Favorite Moments: Santorini, Greece

Santorini, Greece is pure magic!

It has always been my #1 must travel destination. I’ve been dying to visit since I was super young! Well, I finally made it… and it was more than I could have ever dreamed of. It was 100% the highlight of my summer trip. If I could, I would’ve stayed there forever. There’s absolutely nothing like it. From the beautiful blue and white dome churches, the blooming flowers around every corner, to the most breathtaking sunsets… Santorini is a true gem.

I will be putting together a Santorini Travel Guide for you all, but for now I want to share my favorite moments. The problem is, every moment on this island was beyond spectacular, so this is just a taste of my highlights! There’s so much more I want to share, but if I were to blog about it all…. It would be a book!!! So here’s the cliff notes version…

My First and Favorite Moment in Santorini: 

There truly aren’t any words to describe it, because it leaves you speechless. Which actually leads me to my number one favorite moment from the whole trip. It wasn’t caught on camera, because I was just living in the moment, but it will forever be in my memories.

We had just arrived and were climbing up the steep steps to our villa in the town of Imerovigli, and as we got to the very top, I got my first look at what I’d been dreaming of forever… Santorini’s famous cascading white and blue homes on the cliff’s edge, blooming flowers, crystal clear blue skies and royal blue waters that went on and on. My heart literally felt like it was about to burst with happiness. I was left completely speechless and overwhelmed with emotion. I don’t know if it was because I was finally there living my dream or because the view in front of me was so breathtaking, but it truly felt magical.

As I mentioned, I don’t have a picture from that exact moment, because I was just trying to take it all in… but I do have pictures of the view!

 

Sailing Around The Island on a Catamaran at Sunset: 

Another moment (well, more like a day) that was definitely my favorite was a sunset catamaran cruise along the Caldera.  This  was the highlight of the whole trip. Honestly, it was simply perfect, in that it was both relaxing and adventure filled.

We were living the life! I mean imagine sailing the Aegean seas, swimming in the crystal blue waters surrounding Santorini, jumping off cliffs, having a chef on board cooking up an authentic Greek cuisine, wine in hand, tan in progress, surrounded my some awesome new friends, and an incredible sunset to finish off the day… It was the life. Ughhh how I miss it and wish I was there again!

 

Cliff Jumping at Amoudi Bay: 

Omg! What a thrill! I went to Santorini saying that I was going to jump off a cliff, so jump off a cliff is what I did. I’m an adrenaline junkie! I love when my heart feels like it’s going to jump out of my chest right before I do something adventurous and thrilling (side note: I love adventurous and trilling things that won’t kill me). This cliff jumping experience gave me that exact feeling. Let me just say… that from the photos, it doesn’t look that bad, but holy moly when you’re there the cliff looks more like Mount Everest!  Once I was at the top, my hands and legs were tingling, my excitement uncontainable, and I was ready to go! It was me, my dad and brother… and I was the first to jump!

The feeling… oh my God it was so freeing and exhilarating. I let out the loudest scream and felt untouchable. It was incredible! So incredible, that we went back the next day just so I can jump again!

Every single Sunset:

I have never in my life seen sunsets like the ones in Santorini… I should start off by saying, that I’m obsessed with the sky and sunsets, so I have seen and enjoyed quite a few in my life so far, but nothing compares to these. The sunsets, full of vibrant oranges, pinks, and reds, are breathtaking.  Every evening I was left in awe!  I literally wish I could finish every single day of my life watching those sunsets! So for this favorite moment, it’s not really a moment, but more like a bunch of evenings in one, because each sunset was spent with my favorite people and was unique in it’s own vibrant way!
